About CodeTypingTest
CodeTypingTest is a free typing test with a twist: alongside a classic words test, you can type real code. It's a simple way to measure your speed and accuracy, and to practise the brackets, symbols and indentation that ordinary typing tests skip.
Two ways to practise
- Code: 400 short programs in 20 languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, C, Go, Rust and more), from Hello World to classic algorithms like quicksort, grouped into Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert. No autocomplete, no AI: just you and the keys.
- Words: a 60-second test with common English words, with live speed, accuracy and graphs of how your pace changed.
How it works
The timer starts on your first key. In code mode, indentation is filled in for you and a wrong key doesn't move you forward, so every program ends up typed exactly right. Your results and best times are kept in your browser, with no sign-up needed.
